Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Grooming Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Classic tracks were all groomed yesterday afternoon, the main loops and the classic only trail. The skate lane on main loops was combed out today. I skied the main loop classic today and the tracks are very good with an occasional spot where the track setter picked up some debris. I was told by a couple skiers the first few k's of the classic only trail had been heavily skied and the uphill tracks had been wiped out but he tracks farther out were very good.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very good classic skiing can be found at the North End Trails just outside of Cable, WI. The skate lane had just been groomed and the classic tracks were firm and offered good control. The trails were level and there was good coverage. Bundle up and have fun.

Great skiing on NE classic trail today. Pretty decent tracks and good snow conditions given the frigid temps.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very good for skate and classic. Temps were hovering around -10F when I went out so the snow was super slow but the skate deck is firm and level and there's about an inch of loose snow on top. Classic track was good in most places and serviceable everywhere. The cold dry snow doesn't lend itself to a well formed classic track so they've deteriorated some but there was still decent track everywhere I went.

Evening
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Classic skied the main loop and a little bit of the classic only trail late afternoon. We have received about about an inch of new snow as of 4:30pm. The classic tracks are holding up well on both the main loop and the classic only. It is questionable if we will be able to set new tracks until we get a little more snow. By observation and talking with skaters the skate lane is firm and quite level. The new light snow did not seem to be a problem for skating. Happy Holidays!

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We received 2+ inches of very dry snow overnight. The A,B and C loops were combed and new tracks set. The dry snow did not sett up well and the tracks are deteriorating with use. We will try and set new tracks in the next day or two. The Classic only trail was not groomed but should ski pretty well with the light snow in the tracks.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skate lane was combed and new track set on North End ABC loops. Classic only trail was groomed a few days ago and is holding up fairly well.
A groomer is scheduled to go out early tomorrow morning, Wednesday, to track the North End classic trail.

Very good for both skate and classic. None of the normal early season lumpiness. Three quarter to full depth classic track nearly everywhere. As reported elsewhere, it's pretty soft yet. Particularly if you're a well nourished American male like me. When I hopped in the classic tracks they felt firm and fast. You can't go wrong with either technique but I think the classic skiing will probably be a little better than the skating for a few more days until the trails firm up. Many thanks to the grooming crew who put in all those hours necessary to turn multiple snowfalls into fine skiing.

Grooming

Another 2-3 inches! Groomed/set fresh tracks on all North End ski trails this morning. NE Classic groomed just a couple days ago. 25K fully groomed and ready to ski! A little soft but overall very good. Enjoy.

It keeps getting better. I skated the NE trails yesterday and did classic this morning. Groomer was out ahead of me this morning as noted in other reports. Over the past week there has been 6-8" of fresh snow. Coverage is good everywhere. The skate deck was a little soft but the continued use and grooming should firm it up. Classic track was deep and pretty firm. It is a winter wonderland out there with lots of fluffy snow on the pines and overhanging trees.
