Beautiful ski at Battle Creek today! The new snow was still soft at 5pm but with the hard base there was no sinking. Very little icy spots and easy to avoid. Downhills were great. Ski Games Trail was also in really good shape. 30 degrees at sunset with new snow - nothing better! Kudos, groomers!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were combed and tracks set were needed. Most of the existing tracks are in good condition. Ski Games and Ball Field were also groomed and are tracked. Snow is soft now but should setup as the day goes on.

The view from the Battle Creek parking lot is glare ice and grass, but a 50-meter walk gets you to groomed snow. I skied everything but the outermost loop with my son. Where the groomer has passed by (about 2/3 of the totality as of Tuesday 5pm), it's skiiable: sometimes great, sometimes a bit crusty or leafy, and some occasional skiiable icy stuff. All downhills, fortunately, seem safe. Where the groomer hasn't renovated (the bluff overlook and a few other skippable small loops) is too hard, and not skiiable. Overall, a decent B-ski option for those who can only do the snowmaking trails so many times.

We spent a large amount time with the Pisten Bully today renovating the first 2km of the trail system from the start area. There was significant damage done by the melt down. The section of the trail that is the first 200meters beyond the Easy trail cut off was nearly beyond repair due to thin snow and significant icy spots. We bladed snow on to the trail and tilled extensively but only managed to cover the ice in that area. Skiers should be careful on that downhill as it will likely be snow plowed off by the first few skiers. There is also numerous small icy spots in the first kilometer that are easil avoidable but not repairable by tilling. On the positive side, the entire first 2km received a mostly good new classic track and a significant renovation of the skate lane. We also touched up the skate lane on the entire Bronze trail. The Silver trail is skiable and pretty good. The Gold trail has not been worked on yet. Be careful and I think you can have a pretty good skating experience.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The Ski Games Trail at Battle Creek was combed out tonight. Skate deck looks good. Nothing was done with the tracks, they are for the most part in good shape. Just a couple of bare ground on one short ice section. All other trails looked good for skating, you just have to get past the start area.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Several grooming passes on the Bronze and Silver trails greatly improved the skating deck. Use the cutoff at sign-post #2 to avoid the icy south-facing downhill along Winthrop. Gold and Ski Games trails not regroomed. Ballfields (JOC Trail) redone for skating and new classic track. Expect track to be set on Bronze and Silver about mid-afternoon.

The thaw and freeze has made the trails quite difficult for skating. There is damage to the trails near the parking area due to significant foot traffic from an event that has not yet been groomed out. Classic tracks are in ok shape. Be prepared for ice if you go before it warms up or before the trails are regroomed. Hopefully it will soften this afternoon and they can smooth it out.

This is report for the Ski Games trail. Took a lap on the 2.8 K trail. Very good coverage, tracks have setup and are firm. Skate lane is soft yet but still fun to ski this windy trail.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The Ski Games and Gold segments were groomed and tracked this morning. All trail segments have now been groomed since recent snow fall. The "B" skis rating is just because of the small possibility of debris or thin areas on a few hilltops in open areas. The Silver trail will be regroomed tonight for a big HS meet scheduled for tomorrow. Conditions are 95% excellent. Hope for some colder temps to help everything firm up. Enjoy!

Great to see battle creek with some snow! Best place to ski near cities when conditions are good. Five K loop had been rolled, groomed, and tracks had been set. Back loop was only rolled. Very soft, but should be great once a few more passes have been made. Skied 20K (classic) on good skis, and had no issues!
