Ungroomed but decent skating. About 4" snow above relatively firm base. Needs more skiers to compact course. Best to get out after snow warms up, otherwise the frozen course after a night's freeze is pretty difficult to ski. Skied 15 km relatively easy.

No grooming, but plenty of snow. I skied the manmade loop, figuring that there was probably still some base left beneath the new snow. Conditions are more suitable to classic skiing, but I saw a few skaters as well.

I though I'd hit Theo one more time before they stop grooming for the season. It was decent spring skiing with fresh grooming. The tracks were icy with a little slush at the bottom, but still very skiable. The skate lane was in good shape. The Theo groomers did an excellent job this year. It'll be super next winter when the new trailhead opens. The workers were busy trying to finish the outside of the building as I skied by today.

I decided to head out for one last ski with the new snow and lower temps and was glad I did. There was about a 1/2 inch of loose snow covering the trails. It was a little slow when I started about 8, but as the temp dropped it became very smooth and easy to glide. It felt like a mid-winter night along the Twin Lakes loop. I only had my B skis, but didn't see anything out there to be concerned with if I had my A skis along. I did not go in the tracks much as the skating was going so well, but I imagine the classic would be good early tomorrow. If you get a chance to ski tomorrow before it warms up and gets slow, take advantage for another taste of winter.

Remaining loop is approximately 3.5 km. Still a lot of coverage but snow is getting a little dirty in spots. No ice at 7pm.

Great Spring conditions 10-12 am. So good a couple Golden Valley Police took to the trails in their SUVs. One got stuck in the big open area at the top of the Twin Lakes loop! Luckily snow is hard enough even tow truck didn't seem to do to bad of damage.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
We will be grooming the west half of the snowmaking loop through next Thursday the 22nd or not until then if snow conditions deteriorate sooner. The groomed trails will be starting in Lower Stadium. We will groom all of Green Meadow loop, Twin Lake loop and up the Catwalk to Coaches Corner, turn around there and return to Lower Stadium. Access these trails from the lower stadium near the new Trailhead building.

Fastest skiing of the year on the man-made loop this morning! Awesome conditions, exceeding my expectations at Wirth this early morning. Hard to believe opening day was December 1st! It's been an incredible season at Wirth. Thanks for all the excellent grooming!

Holy Ides of March! The skiing was so good here yesterday that I scraped the storage wax off my best hard track skis, added some liquid fluoro and skied like Klaebo. Many folks also headed across the road for crust skiing. The end may be near - but not yet.

There was fresh grooming at Theo today as usual! It sounds like tomorrow is their last day for grooming. I got out a little late around 1:00 pm with temps in the low 40's. The loops were still very skiable with decent classic tracks, and a great skate lane. The tracks did have some ice and slush, but it was still good spring skiing. Thanks to the Theo groomers -- they've done an amazing job this year!
