New Reports Report Requests

Notes

A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
With probably 6-8 inches of new snow the last couple of days, the grooming crew was busy, and groomed and tracked: Anchor, Jolly Long, Seagull, Rollercoaster, and Telford. They tracked: Sugarbush, Black Bear, Seagull Connector, Deerpath, and Raven. Conditions reported as very good to excellent, a couple of wet spots on the loop of Sugarbush. Those should freeze soon though.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very good skate and classic.
All trails have solid base and classic tracks are well set. Well worth the trip if you're coming up from the Twin Cities.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent! Firm deck, no ice or slush, plenty of coverage throughout.
skate skied everything that had been groomed for skate and all trails were in good to excellent condition with plenty of coverage, a nice firm deck, and no ice anywhere. Good classic track alongside throughout. Wished I had enough gas left to go back out and try the fine looking classic only sections. My first time on this trail system, I'll definitely be back!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good, tracks and minimal debris.
Skied Deer Path and Sugar Bush. The vast majority of the trails were in excellent shape with good coverage, tracks and minimal debris. There were a few icy patches near stream crossings that were a little dicey and the tail end of Deer Path had a rock or two poking through. Overall skiable with good skis with caution on the downhills.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Some pine needles and twigs on trails from the strong winds on Monday but not too bothersome. Other than that in excellent condition!
Skied early morning, Telford, Anchor, Seagull. Nicely firmed up for skating, classic tracks looked good, too. Skated up Roller Coaster, groomed too narrow to do so efficiently, everything else in awesome shape. Get out there and ski!

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
This morning Steve and Dennis groomed and tracked: Telford, Anchor, Seagull, and Rollercoaster. They tracked Sugarbush Classic. Once things firmed up, what was groomed came out as mid-winter conditions. We'll rate it as very good.
