Firsthand: Classic [
] |
Conditions: Good classic trail conditions early Saturday morning.
The red loop was good at 8am, with a small amount of debris and some wear and washed out edges on curves. The brown loop had similar wear and tear, but more debris, mainly under trees.

Conditions: Very good to excellent with full coverage and firm trails (I can vouch for yellow and red trails).
By 7:30 a.m. there were already 15 cars in the parking lot and skiers enjoying beautiful trail conditions. If the sun is clouded out today, there shouldn't be any reason we won't see equally great skiing early tomorrow. Thank you Zillmer staff!

Grooming [
] |
The cold air overnight firmed up the trails very nicely. I groomed the skating lanes on all loops to get rid of the glaze. Conditions are very good throughout for both skating and classic. Classic tracks were a little icy this morn but should change as it warms. Best to ski before noon tomorrow, as the temps will be predicted to be warm.

Conditions: Great on the whole. Pliable, reasonably clean snow completely covered the trails and was not yet melting despite 34F midday temps. It hadn't been groomed today by the time I was out there, but I'd return in a heartbeat.
I was also there on the Tuesday, drawn by the report of 5" of snow the night before. Thanks for that, Reagan; it was awesome.

Packed, groomed and tracked all loops today. Full coverage throughout entire system. Very good conditions for everything albeit a little soft yet. Colder temps tonight should make great conditions for tomorrow.

Classic trail a bit icy. Some oak leaves and debris in track. Not quite klister- still kick with "Power Grip". Skate lanes pretty good considering.

Grooming [

I groomed the skating lanes on all loops this afternoon. Skating lanes are in good condition throughout, except the east side of the yellow south of the Ice Age Center. I did not do anything with the classic tracks. They are mostly good but a few bare spots. The east side of the yellow is thin or bare in spots.

Zillmer is in overall good condition for skating. Heavily trafficked areas (at start of yellow, red, green) are hard packed and fast. Less traveled areas have more of a pillowy top where you can get more push. Back half of yellow was glorious. The classic track looked great.
